Big Dog Struggles To Recover From Gunshot Til Rescuers Bring In His Best Friend: A Chihuahua
We all know that dogs are man’s best friend — but in this case, dogs are each others’ best friends too. This tiny Chihuahua and a much larger Gordon setter are inseparable, despite their size difference and one serious injury.
According to WTVR Richmond, the Chihuahua and Gordon setter were found in Petersburg, Virginia, after someone called in about a shooting. When animal control officers arrived, they learned that the Gordon setter had been shot. He was rushed to get medical care — but his Chihuahua buddy was not happy to see him get taken away.
According to Jazmis Aponte, an animal control officer, the smaller dog was actually charging at her when she tried to take his friend away. And the Gordon setter wasn’t too happy either — he recovered from his gunshot wound, but, the officer says, he was clearly depressed in the aftermath, probably missing his best friend.
So, Jazmis went back to the street the next day to see if she could find the Chihuahua and bring him in to cheer up his friend. When she reunited them, Jazmis could see the Gordon setter’s spirits lift instantly.
Jazmis says the dogs hadn’t been cared for properly. She thinks that they had to rely on each other, which is what makes their bond so strong. Now, they’re in a much safer, more caring environment — and they still have each other to lean on.
