There are lots of sick dogs out there. Some of them suffer alone in the streets while some end up in rescue shelters. There are also dogs who had to be put down because of their sickness. But despite their condition, there are still kind-hearted people who will not give up on them no matter what.

Tito, a 16-year-old Chihuahua, was very sick. He was blind and could hardly breathe on his own. Unfortunately, his owner got sick, and the other family members couldn’t take care of him anymore. So they decided to bring Tito to a shelter in New York City.

Helfer was the foster coordinator for Wise Animal Rescue that time. She got an email regarding a very sick dog. That’s when she met Tito.

Have you read about Tito the 16-year-old blind and not so healthy Chihuahua and his buddy "Nurse Frank" the rescued pit…

She knew that she needed to get some help for him. A vet showed her a medical plan. She, then, decided to bring Tito home to start the medication and to give him the proper attention that he needs.

That’s when Tito first saw Frank. Frank is another rescue dog that was found in a junkyard looking so terrible. Helfer always wanted dogs who needed some work, so she decided to adopt Frank.

Frank is suffering from anxiety. That’s an issue that Helfer has to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Tito, on the other hand, is a very confident dog. That’s why Frank and Tito made that instant connection the moment they saw each other.

Tito helped Frank gain his confidence back while Frank would also help Tito to get around. Tito couldn’t walk because of a problem on his hind legs. So, Helfer attaches a bag on Frank’s back where she puts Tito. Frank is always happy to help. He constantly checks on Tito at the back.

Tito would put a smile on his face like this is the best thing that has happened to him. Frank knows that Tito is sick and he needs his help so Frank would always make sure that Tito is close to him. That’s where their great friendship started. Now, Tito and Frank are each other’s best friend.
