Rescue Group Looking For Lost Dog Accidentally Finds A Different One Stranded In The Forest
Unlike cats, dogs are not known to be survivalists when left out in the wild. Many breeds need humans to groom, feed, and shelter them — and most importantly, love them.
But there are some remarkable stories of survival by some resilient pups, who defied all odds and made it out there on their own.
Rescuers from the Sky Sanctuary Rescue found one of these pups and brought her back to safety.
The rescuers were searching for a lost dog in the Tonto National Forest when they came across a horse carcass. Feeding on it was a dog — but a different one than the one they were looking for.
They immediately jumped into action, working together to safely bring her back to the sanctuary.
They knew she was a survivor: feeding on that dead horse had kept her alive for at least two or three months. They found no microchip, so no owner could be located or reached. The dog is quite anxious but otherwise healthy and curious about humans. The rescuers could tell that she used to belong to someone: her wagging tail and occasional, affectionate licks were clues to her past.
Now, they are working to socialize her so that she can be adopted into a loving family soon!
Unfortunately, the first dog rescuers originally set out to find is still out there, but they’re hoping to get him home soon.
