It takes a lot to take care of a dog. Emergency visits to the vet can cost thousands, so think carefully about getting pet health insurance.

Hugs are great, but kisses should be avoided. Dogs tend to dig through garbage cans, from toilet water to the neighbor’s trash. It is an old wives’ tale that a dog has a cleaner than a human’s is folklore. It is not true.
